Gamecocks S Gamecock ace pitcher Don Gordon struggled to his sixth win Saturday as USC finished its road trip with a 16-9 win over Mercer, to complete a two-game sweep. vjoruon, wno is unaeteaied on the season, did not pitch as well as he has earlier in the season but the Gamecocks potent offense proved to be more than enough insurance for thetri-captain. The senior right-hander allowed 10 hits and six runs, five of which were earned, during his eight inning stint. All of the earned runs by Mercer came on home runs. Greg Morhardt, the Gamecock first baseman, tied a school record with three doubles as four other players also had three hits for the Gamecocks. The game was sloppily played by both teams but especially so by the Bears. Errors and stranded runners hurt both tsams throughout the contest. The Bears were, however, able to muster up some power hitting as they hit five home runs as their record dropped to 16-9. (JSC is now 23-5 on the season. USC in earlier actioi | f? Union ji^i Of Co!
