A new weight room is under construction
and is expected to be completed by the fall
of 1982.

The original location of the weight room
was in the basement of the P.E. Center, but
that room was needed for laboratories.
The new weight room was expected to be
completed this semester, but due to an
unexpected rise in the projected price the
center was forced to postpone construction
for further bidding.
The original estimate given by the architect
was $160,000. However, the actual

According to Richard Ferriter, director of
the P.E. Center, the new weight room will
accommodate tne weignts better. Ferriter
also said it would no longer be necessary for
students to leave the center now that all of
the facilities are on the premises.
The new weight room will have the same
nautilus and universal equipment as there is
now.
The only new addition will be an assistant
to advise less experienced trainees and to
"spot" others while lifting.
