Gamecocks Stc

There's no place like home. Just ask the basketball team.
After dropping their first six road decisions, the trei
didn't change at all this week.
Thursday the Gamecocks were ousted by the Gold
Eagles of Southern Mississippi for their seventh straig
road loss, 76-57.
South Carolina only trailed by eight, 40-32 at halftime, fc

said Gamecock Head Coach Bill Foster.
USC shot only 35 percent from the floor in the second ha
hitting 14-40 from the floor. USC hit 13-27 from the f<
line.
Once again the Gamecocks were led by Jimmy Foster u
hit 14 points.
And things didn't get better at Texas, as the Longhoi
totally outmanned USC for their eighth road defeat in
many games, 88-77.
The undefeated and f fth-ranked Longhorns jurrped ou
a 13-0 lead to begin the game and never looked back.
"We got off to a terrible start," said Foster. We really c
a hole for ourselves. We were behind 6-0 before we even t
i shot and you can't do that against anybody."
Although the Gamecocks were dominated by
Longhorns, Foster said he noticed some improvement si
their loss to Southern Mississippi.
"I praised our team. I saw some things that are com
along. We cut our turnovers down, raise dour assists to 17,
played more aggressively on the boards. Those are posil
things," he said.

USC was without starter and high scorer Jimmy Fo:
due to an ankle injury.
"You have to give Texas credit," said Foster.'They pla

USC once again put on a poor shooting exhibition from

The Gamecocks come back home where they have h
little more success in Frank McGuire Arena where
