Headlining the event is Atlanta native Lee Fidler, winner ^ of the 26.2 mile event in 1978 and 1979. Last year's winners, w Bicky Timus of Anderson, and Colleen Joiner from Georgia State University have also been invited to compete in the race. The race is the oldest and largest 26.2 mile race in the state and one of the premier road races in the Southeast. It is coordinated with the assistance of the Governor's Council of Physical Fitness.
