George Thorogood has
always been a down-tobasics
type of guy. The
Delaware bluesman has
always played a no-frills
style of music; fundamental
Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf,
Elmore James, John Lee
Hooker and the like.
Thorogood's current tour is
exemplary of his musical
style; it's a throwback to the
"old days" when rock bands
piled into a station wagon or
van and motored from city to
city.
This tour has an added
twist, however. Thorogood
and his band, The
Destroyers, embarked Oct.
23 on their "50/50 Tour,"
during which they will play
50 consecutive nights in 50

The idea for the tour came
from "a close accomplice of
the band," says Thorogood,
and was met with immediate
approval by the band

THE BAND loves to tour,
according to Thorogood ?
they like the hotels, the
restaurants and everything
else about it. They also like
to see America, especially
from an "on wheels"
viewpoint, and the "50/50
Tour" is just the vehicle they
need to see the entire
country.
