Injuries have fallen upon

now the coach must rely on
many replacements lacking
on-the-job experience.
The latest jolt to the
team's health and well-being
was a doubled-barrled blow
on Tuesdav.
RUNNING BACK Percy
Reeves suffered a broken leg
that afternoon in a USC
scrimmage, while flanker
Jerry Aubin sustained a
separated shoulder in the
same session. Reeves will
miss the remainder of the
season, and Aubin is expected
to miss three to four
weeks of action.
Reeves, who was moved
from tailback to starting
fullback earlier this week
due to the year's loss of Carl
West, was hit on his lower
left leg during the practice
drills. The 6-2, 190-pound

The Reeves and Aubin
losses compounded offensive
injuries that began on USC's
first day of practice in pads.
Center Mark Austin was lost
in the first session to a
broken elbow. That would
prove to be an omen for the
Gamecocks. Carolina has
since absorbed injuries to

Chivers and defensive tackle
Donnie McDaniel, along with
those of Reeves and Aubin.
