Two examples are the Pretenders, who are qp an 11 week tour behind their new release, Pretenders II, and the Rolling Stones, who have announced plans for their first tour since 1978. ^ Mick J agger and company are slated tc appear in Atlanta on Oct. 27 as part of theii U.S. swing (George Thorogood and Journey will be the opening acts). Among the other groups and performers currently touring are Pat Benetar, Greg Kihn, Peter Tosh, George Benson, anc Christopher Cross. The Boss recently held a benefit concert in Los Angeles for Vietnam veterans. A LOOK at the recent Top 100 Album charts shows that Benetar and Cross arc raking in most of the megabucks these days along with a few other performers like AC/DC. the Pretenders and the ever present Kenny Rogers. The tiny former opera singer's first album, Crimes of Passion, is also still on the charts, hanging - at about the number 85 position 13 months 1 after its release date. 1 Christopher Cross is doing even better; although he has only one album on the charts it is beginning to look like he might never even need to put out another record. His self-titled debut is still in the top 45 a full year-and-a-half after its release.
