Rotary Scholarships are given to outstanding students,;

seeks to promote understanding and friendly relations

The scholar is expected to maintain "high standards of!
achievement while serving as a bridge of understanding and:
friendship between the peoples of the sponsoring and host

Candidates must have maintained high standards in
academic studies, vocation or actual teaching or journalistic:
experience and must show promise of distinguished;
achievement in the host country."
Leadership, initiative, enthusiasm, adaptability, maturity,
i seriousness of purpose and proficiency in the language of the
studv country are all Qualities that candidates must
demonstrate. Candidates must also be physically and
mentally able to complete a rigorous year of study and travel
in another country.

Candidates for the graduate Rotary Scholarship must be
between the ages of 18 and 24 on the application deadline,

Candidates for the journalism Rotary Scholarship must be
between the ages of 21 and 28 as of the application deadline,
must have completed two years of tfulltime employment as
journalists and must be secondary school graduates at the
time of application or have been students actively prepared
for a career in print or broadcast journalism. They must

achievements are considered for Marshall Scholars.
Preference will be given to candidates who combine high
acaaemic aDiiuy wiin a capacity 10 piay an active part in
the life of the United Kingdom university to which they go,
and to those who display potential to make a significant
contribution to their own society.
Candidates must be under the age of 26. Fields of study are
unrestricted, but students must enroll in a degree program. ^
The Marshall Scholarship covers transportation, tuition,
book allowance, a possible marriage allowance, and a per
sonal allowance. Interestedstudentsshouldfobtainappiicatipn
forms immediately and submit them in early October.
FULBRIGHT Grants are made on the basis of the applicant's
academic or professional record, language
preparation, the feasibility of the proposed study project and
personal qualifications.
Most of the Fulbright Grants are for one academic year in
one of 50 countries. Full grants include travel, tuition,
mointononco otr? travel orantc arp fr?r rrmrwi-frin nns<U)0P
to a given country and are intended to supplement certain j
other awards; foreign grants are established by foreign
governments and agencies and do not include the travel cost.
For most countries, advanced graduate students are
preferred.
The deadline for the Fulbright Grants is Sept.21, so all
interested students are encouraged to apply immediately.
