calls one of the state's top
recruits, is eagerly awaiting
the start of his Carolina
soccer career.
"I'm really excited about
coming to Carolina," Robey
said. "I look forward to
playing with top-level
competition."
Robey received one of high
school soccer's hiehest
honors last season when he
was named to the Parade

team. The midfielder from
Columbia's Irmo High
School was also a selection to
the National Soccer Coaches
Association All-South squad.
Berson had high praise for
the 6-0,160 pounder.
"I think Phil was one of the
better players in South
Carolina last season." said

academic standards and
good soccer knowledge, and
he's certainly a welcomed
addition to our program.
"I think he'll make a very
good collegiate player,"
Berson added. "But we'll
have to see what kind of time
frame we are talking about.
It really takes a full year to
evaluate each recruiting
class."
Robey is impressed with
Carolina's soccer program.
"I think USC has one of the
best programs in the
country," he acknowledged.
"Carolina has nice facilities
and a nice schedule."
Robey scored nine goals
and added 10 assists in

he was eight years old,
confessed that soccer was
more developed in the
Washington area.
"Soccer has been around
there much longer," he said.
