As a result of Tuesday s alleged rape in McClintock dorm,
USC officials have placed a rush order on wrought iron
window screens for dorms on the Women's Quad, according
to associate director of auxiliary services Dave Castine.
The alleged rape occurred when a man apparently climbed
through an unlocked McClintock dorm window and attacked
a student.

the individuals (in Women's Quad rooms) to protect themselves.
The residents have to let up their windows because of
Lhe heat. They need some type of screen. That's about all that
ian be done." he said
CASTINE SAID a rush has been placed on an order for 97
screens at the state purchasing office.
The screen project was begun this past June as part of the
JSC's annual summer renovation project. Castine said the
screens should be delivered within three weeks.
Castine said screening the windows will start immediately
vhen the screen request is passed through state purchasing.
Sach screen costs $40, he said. Enough materials have been
>rdered to screen the windows in Sims, the back of Mc?lintock
and the front of Wade Hampton dorms, he said.
