Contest was an afternoon of biceps, triceps,
poses and cheers, and when it was all over
Jeff Guilford was crowned the new Mr,
U.S.C. Saturday night.
In the first contest, opened only to USC
students, it seemed to be a private show
between Guilford and eventual second place
winner Jimmy Delk. Delk walked away with
the first three trophies given away-Best
Arms, Best Back, and Most Muscular.
Guilford was awarded the trophy for Best
Chest while Michael Kaughan took the Best
Legs and Best Abs (abdomen) trophies. The
Best Poser award was given to Joe
Cavanogh.
After Guilford and Delk were McKaughan
in third olace. Keith Ballinflton in fourth and
Cavanogh in fifth.
IN THE second contest, opened to all
contestants, it was another close contest
between the winner Gean Bell and the
second place winner Walter Wolfe. Bell won
Best Legs, Be "k, and Best Chest while

been training very hard for the last few
months in preparation for the contest.
Judges for this year's contest were Phil
Outlaw, Joe Means, Rick Broone, Terrell
Harman, Dr. Joseph Ballog, Danny
Angular, and Sonny Arnold.
ERIC RICHARDSON, President of the
Bodybuilding Club and Master of
Ceremonies of the Contest said that he felt
that the competition this year was excellent
and tough. "This was probably the toughest
ComDetition I've ever seen." said RirhnrH
son. "The competition between the first five
in both categories was excellent," he added.
Phil Outlaw, Mr. America over 40 and the
man who wilt represent the United States at
the Mr. Universe Contest in South Africa
gave his posing demonstration during the
intermission between the closed and open
contests. Mike Katz, Mr. America and Mr.
World, gave his posing exhibition at the end
of the open contest. He also came back on
stage to answer questions from the
audience.

posers came in, and that in the future the
contest may not have any guest posers. "If
it was up to me we wouldn't have a guest
poser next year. But it's not up to me it's up
to Jimmy Hinton, the club president for next
year," said the outgoing president.
Richardson said that the contest is one of
the best in the Southeast and will continue to
