To the Editor:
For John Hinckley, what
started out to be a nice quiet
evening out at the movies
turned out to be a nightmare
for the whole country and the
rest of the world.
John went to the movies to
see a new release called
"Taxi Driver" which starred
Jodie Foster, a sexy Yale
student. This girl was really
something else. It was love
at first sight. As far as John
was concerned this girl was
worth dying for.
There was one problem.
Jodie Foster could not care
less about this poor soul

to get an angle that hasn't

daylight that John will see

THAT DAY four innocent
men were shot down. But to
many people in the United
States that was not the worst
blunder of the day.
The blunder of the day
belongs to the national press.
They could not seem to do
anything right that day.
Four men were shot in the
incident: the president, a
secret service man, Press
Secretary James Brady, and
a District of Columbia
policeman.
At the first report of the
shooting, it was said that the
president had not been shot.
Later we found that that was
not the case. It was reported
that the assailant, John
Hinckley, was 22, then 24,
then 33. I think that it is

THE WORST REPORT of
the day came when ABC
reported that James Brady
had died. Later the network
reported that they were
sorry for the mistake. I can't

The Secret Service was
really on the ball that day,
also. According to officials in
the administration, Reagan
apparently received his
wound when a Secret Service
agent pushed him to the car.
As far as the day goes, it
was a pretty lousy day for
everyone. From now on the
press might try to wait an
extra five or ten minutes to
get their story straight
before they make it public. I
feel that if the White House
janitor told one of the
reporters that Bush had
hired Hinckley, they would
have printed it.
