Sparked by a strong
defense, key hitting and
speed, the Lady Gamecocks'
softball team boosted their
overall record to 5-9 thi?
week as they continue to
prepare for a major tournament
in Texas.
Errors plagued Carolina
Sunday in their
doubleheader against
Ithaca, as the Gamecocks
comrnited five errors in the
two games.
Pitching a no-hitter and
racking up two RBI, Holly
Booth struck out four and
walked one in Sunday's first
game. Booth allowed only
one Daserunner, and Key hits
by her and third baseman
Maureen Ahern were enough
to push Carolina past Ithaca
4-0.
In Sunday's second game
however, the Gamecock's
defense slipped. Committing
three errors, which accounted
for all of Ithaca's
four runs, Carolina watched
Ithaca squeeze by them in
the last innings to a 4-3
