Winning basketball games
is a combination of talent,
hustle, and luck as most
basketball tans would agree.
The young Gamecock
basketball squad exhibited
just the right amount of each
ingredient in Wendesday
night's come-from-behind
87-74 overtime win against
in-state rival Furman.
Chances for the
Gamecock's 14th win looked
bleak late in the contest as
Carolina was behind 65-61
with 2:54 left in regulation
and Jimmy Foster was
called for his fifth foul. The

accessed a technical foul for
questioning the call to give
the Paladians a four point
lead and the ball.
"It (the technical) fired us
up," Carolina co-captain
Zam Fredrick said. "It
really got us back into the
game as far as mental psych
is concerned. It just gave us
the final spark we needed to
put together that last-ditch
effort to put the game into
overtime."
Fredrick and Furman
guard William Hanks sandwiched
jumpers around a
foul shot by forward George
Singleton to give Furman a
68-63 lead with 2:28 left.

THE WIN gave Carolina a
