To prevent do Senate By Lana Carter Staff Writer Student Senate allocated $100 Wednesday to purchase engraving tools to prevent theft from university dormitory rooms. mL. _ * * * me nesicience L.ne Committee will purchase five engraving tools that will remain Student Government property. "They'll all be out and in use in the dorms within a week or so," said Mike Doherty, Residence Life Committee chairman. A SCHEDULE will be set up so the engravers will be available to students in each dorm for one week. Each student will be given a code that will be on file with Campus Police "The first four digits of the code are unique to USC recognized nationwide," Doherty said. The remaining digits will identify the student, he said. The Residence Life Committee is working with Campus Police and residence hall staffs promote the use ot engraving instruments, according to Doherty. P'oreign language Drofessor David Danow and government and international studies professor Gordon Smith told of their experiences in the Soviet Union Tuesday night at a seminar sponsored by Amnesty International. DANOW, who spent several years in the Soviet Union, lectured on what he called "the cultural human rights that the average Soviet citizen is ur able 'o enjo>.''
