Texas bluesman/rocker
Delbert McClinton and his
band will appear Oct. 23 at
the Quarter Moon, 900 S.
Main St.
McClinton will perform
the first of two shows
beginning at about 9:30 D.m.
Tickets are being sold in
advance at the Quarter
Moon, and remaining tickets
will be available at the door.
Quarter Moon owner
Rivers Scarborough said,
"We want to broaden our
appeal. We want to show
everyone what a good band
sounds like on a good sound
system."
Those who did not get to
see McClinton in his
previous appearances in
Columbia may recognize
him from his appearance on
Saturday Night Live,
arranged by John Belushi.
McClinton and his band
play Southern style blues,
R&B and rock music. He is
the lead vocalist and also

background of 20 years in the
music business qualifies him
to sing the blues with a
certain amount of personal

Texas, McClinton
moved with his family to Ft.
Worth when he was 11 and
started singing three years
later. He performed to his
first audience when he was
17.
Early in his career McClinton
performed with
numerous hastily formed
bands which dissolved as
quickly as they were
organized.
One band that clicked, the

ouuigiujacKeis, was asked
to work as the house band at I
Jack's Place ? a notorious
rough-and-tumble roadhouse
south of Ft. Worth.
Jack's was a favorite
haunt of many blues greats
and McClinton and his band
often spent late night hours
sharing the stage with the

Sonny Boy Williamson's
"Wake Up Baby." Released

"Victim of Life's Circumstances"
and followed it
with two more albums in the
following two years. In 1978
McClinton recorded "Second
Wind" on the Capricorn
label and followed it with
"Keeper of the Flame" in
1979. His career has been on
the upswing ever since.
