Volume 11,Issue '4Tennis, pinq po Sports by Jeff Coates Sports Flash Editor Within the past two weeks, three Intramural Sports held their respective competitions and determined their winners as they became the 1st activities to wrap-up their sport for the Fall 1 980 season. The sunny Fall weather this nast weekend finally allowed the Intramural Tennis Classic to finish its rain-delayed schedule. Along with tennis, the Intramural Ping Pong and Handball Tournaments finished up their competition, as the winners collected Intramural Champion T-shirts and points for their respective organizations. First of all in the men's singles, David Simonini (Pi Kappa Alpha) won an exciting match from Paul Povey (Sigma Phi Epsilon) 6-4, 6-2 in the finals of Flight I to lay claim to the Best Intramural Tennis Player at USC! In Flight II, Mike Rosa and David Ward (Chi Psi) dominated Craig Culbreath and Bertram Rantin 6-3, 6-4 to sweep the men's doubles competition for Chi Psi. Continuing with the Tennis on the fairer side, Margarita Morales (Kappa Delta) gave a good performance by winning over Becky Apter (Baker) in the women's Singles, Flight I. Each supervisor is i assigned certain specific sports to coordinate, and they work closely with the Graduate 1 Assistant who directs the i sport, the Supervisor's variec ; responsibilities will include t drawing up the tournamenl schedule; hiring, training, anc f scheduling of officials; the 3 acquistion of necessary il equipment; and actually ej supervising the playing of the II * I ipleted (Sims) defeated Nancy Wright (Columbia Hall) for the Flight III crown. In the women's doubles competition, the powerful team of Edgerton-Bootle (Gamecock) were declared the winners of Flight II after several forfeits. In the sister racquet sport of ring rong, A Hezvan (Gamecock) topped Charles Bowers (Woodrow) 2-1 in the men's singles division. T. O'Farrel (SAE) and D. Ward (Chi Psi) also made it to the semi-finals in this tournament field, the talented team of Wolfe-Thmasson (SAE) overcame Hamilton-Teddy (Bates House) 2-1 for the doubles title. In the women's Ping Pong division, Ewa Wojcicka (Gamecock) dominated T. Surratti (PEM Club) 2 0, to capture the women's crown.
