Carolina's soccer team has played
Clemson three times in two years, and each
time USC has come away with nothing but
frustration and a one goal loss.
In the Gamecocks' inaugural season, they
dropped a 2-1 thriller before 4,000 fans at the
"Graveyard" to the nationally ranked
Tigers. Last year, USC found itself on the
short end of two 1-0 games, the second being
a NCAA playoff contest.
Carolina Soccer Coach Mark Berson
thinks it's about time that pattern changed.
He's looking for a big assist ? not from any
of his players ? but from USC fans.
"We love having this game home,"
Berson said. "We want to see every single
solitary person in Columbia out here to root
for us. When Clemson comes on the field
Sunday, I would like to have as much support
as possible. Good, clean, honest support.
That means more to our players than
anything else.
"Having fans here Sunday is going to be a
very big part of the game for our team. If we
can get that 12th man on the field, with the
12th man being the Carolina fans, we're
going to have a very big advantage."

The Gamecocks upped their season
record to 5-3-2 with a 3-0 shutout Wednesday

Victor Wikstrom scored his seventh goal
of the season with 26:39 left in the first half
on an assist by David Goodchild on an indirect
kick.
Seven minutes later Goodchild followed
with a goal of his own to give the Gamecocks
a 2-0 advantage. The goal was the
sophomore's eighth of the season, giving
him the team lead in that category.
Chris Heidelberger scored the only goal of
the second half. His score came with 29:05
remaining in the game, with an assist from
Wikstrom.
THE CITADEL OFFENSE was kept in
