By Carol Gordon Staff Writer ( The University of South j Carolina at Aiken, founded < in 1961, moved to its present < 144-nrrp sit#* in fall 1Q79 i The campus consists of < five main buildings in the s Banksia section of Aiken < County. 5 The school's enrollment, i 1,790 undergraduates and 206 < graduates, has increased 8.2 1 percent since fall 1979. The itudents take most of their :ourses at Aiken, but the graduate program is based n Columbia. The Columbia iampus selects faculty, the administrative work anH supplies classroom space. Although it is a commuter campus, Aiken offers a variety of activities and special events for students and the community, including the annual International Week and mime and theater presentations. The ers iters programming board plans campus activities. THE AIKEN campus has many of the same clubs as the Columbia campus. It also has a Student Government Association and a newspaper staff. A yearbook staff is being organized. Aiken offers intramural and intercollegiate sports programs.
