Few people seem to know
what happened behind-thescenes
at the USC-Southern
California game Saturday.
Some explanations are in
order.
The people who made the
trip were a couple of close
friends from the university.

the board of trustees.
Then the wives of both the
president and the board
members tagged along as

pets, maids, security guards
anu families, distant
relatives, strangers, faculty,
stail, luggage, reference
librarians, bartenders and
people who had some vague
knowledge of California by
reauing aooui 11 in
travelogues.
The trainers for the team
went. So did the team
managers, cneerieaaers,
chiropractors, chefs,
groundskeepers, business
managers and consultants,
accountants, roundhouse
maintenance men and the
golf team.
While half of the football
squad was left at home due
to lack of space, the others
were told they could stay up
late and watch the game on
TV in Columbia.

to leave for the game.
While there, he made a few
television pilot films. His
acting debut, a remake of
"Bound for Glory," will
coincide with his directing of
"The $41 million disaster."
Not to be outdone, the
board of trustees will be seen
in a comedy . "Senior
Citizens," which will be seen
on ETV when the next tuition
hike occurs. Unfortunately
for the board, another effort,
"How to j.un a St a to
University," was canned
because producers didn't
think the acting was
original.
While the total numbci of

part of their USC visitors.
Coach Carlen spent most of
his time on Sunset Boulevard
while star running back

Probably the greatest
hoax ever played on USC
fans was staged during this ?
trip. In order to save money,
with Universal Studios right
around the corner, the team
had the studio make a film of
the game which was
broadcast back to Columbia.
The two teams never met.
Instead, they were portrayed
by some of famous
Hollywood actors.
Coach Carlen was played
bv Ernest Bore nine.
quarterback Garry Harper
was portrayed by Tim
Conway and Rogers vas
played by Bill Cosby.
