The garage, on the site of a former parking lot, will have
about 225 spaces, said David Rinker, systems vice president
for facilities planning. The parking plan will probably be
similar to that of the Pendleton Street Garage, he said, which
has metered and reserved spaces.

j law may require that a fee be charged for parking, since the
s facility is a building rather than a lot, he said.
Rinker said the garage will be adjacent to the computer

THE LOT should open in the summer of 1981, Rinker said
"It (construction) is go <g extremely well. In fact, it's one oi
the better construction jobs we've had," he said.
The M.B. Kahn Construction Co. is building the garage
Wilbur Smith and Associates designed it.

A USC student was robbed Thursday by an armed man
after refusing to buy cocaine from him.
Columbia Police said Kevin Bart, an 18-year-old Wade
Hampton Hotel resident, and a man identified as Tony

near Harden Street, about 12:30a.m.
Police said the man tried to sell Bart some cocaine and "a
lady for the night." When Bart refused, the suspect went into
a nearby residence and returned with a .32-caliber pistol.
Police said the suspect pointed the pistol at Bart's
stomach, took his wallet, which contained about $10 and some

Police described the suspect as a black male about 24 years
old, 5 foot 8, 150 pounds. He had a mustache, close-cropped
hair, and the right side of his face was pockmarked. He was
wearing white shorts and a tan short sleeve aress snirt.
