its season with twelve teams
divided into two divisions.
Rivalries have been built
from previous seasons,
encouraging stiff competition
and spirited play in
much the same vein as last
year.
Chi Omega heads this
year's preseason ooll. The
defending champions have
lost only one game in the last
two years, and look to be as
tough as ever.
NUMBER 1-CHI OMEGA.
The 1979 champions will
again rely on the talents of
quarterback Kerri Hall.
Hall's leadership and
talented play earned her the
MVP award of the women's
division in playoff action.
Her main target should be
former USC cheerleader

as the flanker.
Hall said Chi 0 will
remember a lesson from last
year, in which the team
failed to practice before the
regular season and dropped
their opening game. This
year they are getting an
early start, Hall said. "I
think we have a real good
team. We still have the
hacipc from l'jct \joor " Uoll
explained.
NUMBER 2-KAPPA
DELTA. Kappa Delta ended
the year ranked number two,
and will be looking to improve
on last year's record.
KD returns most of its
starters, including the entire
defensive backfield. They
will be counting on a "good
pledge class" to patch up
any weak spots.
Margarita Morales will
Quarterback the team and
run the offense. Her favorite
receiver should be flanker
Alice Williamson. If Kappa
Delta has any weakness, it
should be in using the same
players on offense and
defense, particularly on the
line. Look for KD to be in the
thick of things at play-off
time.
NUMBER 3-SOUTII
BUILDING. South Building
will rely on quickness and
speed to challenge for the

Kari Terry and Jami
Thorstenson will provide
much of the scoring punch on
offense. The defense will
count on defensive end Susie
Blumer to make the kev
stops.
A plus for South Building
lies in its three experienced
coaches who are all flag
football veterans.
"Last year we did really
well, and this year we expect
to do better," Thorstenson
said. How much better could
have an effect on the
crowning of the champion.
NUMBER 4-SIMS. Eight
starters should return from
last years playoff team,
mostly on the offense.
Quarterback Susan Wiltsie ,
will run the offensive show,
operating mainly from the
shotgun formation. Her top
receiver in Sim's throwing
offense should be Robin 1
Elmore at split end.
A new coaching staff could r
havp an pffpot nn (hp
performance. Player Pam
Frazier feels the talent is
there, but they must get the
players together. "If we can
get the people there we
should do real well," Frazier
said.
NUMBER 5-BATES
HOUSE. Last year's number
five team will have to rely
upon a new crop of freshmen to
return to the playoffs.
Speed will be Bates's biggest
asset. Stamina could become
important as the team plans
to play most players both
ways. Bates must gain experience
for its new players
in order to challenge in the
playoffs.
HONORABLE MENTIONALPHA
DELTA PL AD Pi
was ranked in the polls
throughout most of the
season, but dropped out just
before playoff time. Depth
will have to carry Alpha
Delta Pi, as they will be
competing in the same
division as Chi Omega and
Kappa Delta.
