Keith Killian may not be able to
play baseball at Carolina next
spring, but he is more than happy
to just be alive.
Killian, a standout on BrooklandCayce's
AAAA state championship
team this year, signed a grant-inaid
to play baseball for the
Gamecocks at the end of his senior
year. But two weeks ago, while he
was driving home from his summer
construction job, Killian's car
veered over and hit a tractortrailer
truck on S.C. 215.
Killian was seriously injured in
the crash. He suffered bruises and
cuts, but the mnst spverp ininrv
, ?J ? J
was to his left eyelid which was
almost completely destroyed.
Killian said he is still hoping to
play baseball for the Gamecocks,
but that right now he is concerned
with recovering from the wreck.
He was released from the ospital
yesterday and he was very anxious
to be going home. "I can't wait to
get out of here," he said.

Killian, who coached his son at
B-C, said indications are that his
son fell asleep at the wheel when
the accident occurred. "He had
been playing for Congaree in the
state Legion playoffs. On Wednesday
they beat Lancaster and
won that series," his father said.
"Keith got home at around 2 a.m.
that night and then had to get up at
