what do the majority of the
students do to fulfill their
recreational needs?
Many athletes like David Hunter
enjoy recreational sports. Hunter
is presently a member of an intramural
softball team called
Corndogs II.
Hunter exemplifies the typical
intramural athlete. He is out for a
good time, but he also takes the
recreational snorts seriously.
Prior to a Corndogs II softball
game, Hunter fulfills one of his
duties as team captain by filling
out the team's lineup card. In the
first inning of the game, Hunter
makes two putouts from his centerfield
position. Despite Hunter's
individual efforts in the game, the
Corndogs find themselves trailing

aner iour innings ot piay.
THE CORNDOGS manage to
take a slim lead going into the final
inning, but that lead is shortlived
as the opposing team rallies to
defeat the Corndogs II.
The loss is particularly disappointing
to Hunter. "Loses like this
are directly related to the amount
of team turnover," Hunter said.
"Once you graduate, all that is left
for Corndogs II is oldsters. One key
to consistently winning in intramural
Softball is having a good
shortstop and being able to hit
consistently. It's hell trying to win
witn summer vacations, and a
team full of hot-headed athletes."
Intramural softball umpire
Bobby Holdeman said of Hunter,
"David has a good winning atSoftball
