Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church will attempt tc organize a chapter on the USC campus this fall because of "the real threat of communism and the breakdown of human society," the area correspondent for the World Student Times said. Rishelle Josephs, correspondent for the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) newspaper said she will be attending USC in the fall, alone with other members of the Unification Church. "As a movement, we're so misrepresented,"Josephs said.She added that the group studies the principles and teachings of the Unification Church, but is not financially dependent on the religious movement. JOSEPHS CLASSIFIED herself as a "Marxist" before meeting members of the Unification Church in San Francisco. The 22 year-old will be studying international relations at USC this fall. "Being a Moonie takes very > much strength," he said. "He-establishing a new sense of patriotism" is a main objective of CARP, Tuente said. He said reestablishing Judeo-Christian beliefs and forming a new ethical foundation are other concerns of theorganizaton. \ JAMES CAMPBELL, vice president of student affairs, said CARP was a licensed campus group in 1975. He said no membership figures for the group are known. The group had its license revoked after numerous student ; complaints of "harassment," he i said. Officers took a leave of absence, but continued to serve in the capacity of officers, Alexander said. ? CARP "consistently failed to register off-campus speakers," he said. ? CARP WAS ACCUSED of soliciting funds on campus by selling paraphernalia, and ? The organization was also1 accused of soliciting membership by going door-to-door in residence halls. A USC student and employee of Food Town in Five Points said members of Rev. Moon's Unification Church have been selling flowers in the grocery store parking lot.
