South Rend, Ind. confident they

For most of the game it looked as if
their eonfidence was justified and
they went into the fourth quarter

The roof fell in during the final
quarter when Notre Dame quarterback
Rusty Lisch picked the
Gamecock secondary apart and
led the Irish to score two touchdowns
in the final stanza and a two
point coversion to win 18-17.
There was a week layoff between
the Notre Dame and NC State
games and it seemed to be just
what the doctor ordered. Although

points, the Gamecocks totally
dominated the game. Rogers led
the USC offensive attack with 217
yards rushing.
Tallahasse, Fla. was not a
friendly'place for the Gamecocks
and Jim Carlen. They were
soundly defeated by the Florida \
Seminoles. George Rogers led the (
way for the Gamecocks whose ]
record dropped to 6-3 with the 27-7 ,
