mean in a scene or two. In the
1 early part of the film, she shows us
that she has a streak of independence,
but not once does she
fight back at any of the people
who've made her life such a mess.

her problems are, but she makes
no serious attempt to free herself
from them.
With such weaknesses in the
script, its amazing that Foxes
works, but work it does, thanks to
Lyne's sensitive, but not suffocating,
direction and to the
polished performances from the
entire cast
ICurrie, Kagan and Kellerman
keep our eyes glued to the screen
with their lovely portrayals of
; characters that are anything but
lovely and Foster is electrifying in
her every scene. After an
auspicious start in films such as
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore,
Taxi Driver and The Little Girl
Who Lives Down the Lane, Foster
has grown into one of the best
young actresses the screen ever
has seen. She's stunning in every
sense of the word.
LEON BIJOU'S smokey
cinematography fits the sad tone of
the picture perfectly and Giorgio
Moroder (who won an Oscar for
Midnight Express and who seems
certain to win another for
American Gigolo) has contributed
another outstanding electronic
score, featuring songs by Donna
Summer, Cher, Brooklyn Dreams
and Janis Ian.
Tf for no other reasons than to
hear the music and to see Foster's
progress as an actress, Foxes is
well worth the time and money one
must spend to see it.
