not alerted to the theme of John j
Huston's remarkable new film, i
Wise Blood. Based on the first ,
novel by Flannery O'Connor, the |
picture is a scathing, uproariously <
funny indictment of the do-it- <
yourself religions that are so ]
abundant in the more backward
areas of the rural South. I

ITS PROTAGONIST, Hazel j
Motes (played by Brad Dourif of ;
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), ]
is just back from a stint in the ^
army when he begins to realize \
how fanatical his fellow town- j
