Saudi Arabia's crown prince said
that "we can never concentrate on
our own developments and
prosperity until the Mid-East
problem is resolved," during a
visit to USC March 27.
Prince Bandar bin Sultan, a
major in the Saudi Royal Naval Air
Force, said Saudi Arabia disagrees
with Egyptian President Anwar
Sadat's tactics but not his objectives
concerning the Camp

David talks and is pessimistic that
negotiations will produce any
comprehensive plans for

percent of the Saudi people

WHAT PUZZLED Bandar was
that the attack was not made on

"We could not believe anyone
could take an Islamic cause and
attack Mecca. We couldn't
rationalize it. That was not Saudi's
capital ? it was God's capital,"
said Bandar. Prince Bandar added
that the Saudi government has not
yet finished studying the impact of
the attack and is assessing their
governmental practices.
Bandar discussed the problems
taking place in Saudi Arabia's
Eastern provinces and villages.
He thinks the government has

Bandar said.
PRINCE BANDAR is not
fearful, but rather frustrated with
his system as it stands now. He is
certain that the Royal family
needs a master plan for improvement.
"This cannot be done
today or by X-day because mass
chaos would result. We must build
towards improvement."
A better system of feedback to
the government is needed along
with better representation within
each district. Efforts are now
being made to decentralize
government decision making in
everything except defense and
foreign policy, according to
Bandar.
