The Lady Gamecock tennis
team won again Sunday afternoon.
This time the victim was the tough
Wisconsin Lady Badgers.
Wisconsin is a Big 10 power in
women's tennis, but you wouldn't
have known it in their match

Probably the best match of the
day was at the number-one singles
spot where Susan Smith defeated
Wisconsin's Amy Williams 7-6, 7-6.
Although the match was tight all
the way, Smith always seemed to
win the big points. "Susan is an
outstanding athlete who is in great
shape," coach Jeff Kefalos said.
She can always be counted on to
win the big points."

strong in doubles as they lost only
one of the three matches. At
number-one doubles Anastopoulo
and Detrich defeated Johnson and
Kedfield 6-3, 6-2.
The Gamecocks' only loss on the
day came at number-two doubles
where Kramer and Drew Kefalos
were defeated by Appalachian's
Lewis and Light 6-1. 6-2. The
number-three team of Bernie
Sandler and Wink Coleman came
away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over
Meehan and Sciotto 6-3, 6-0.
The Gamecocks have a veryimportant
week ahead according
to coach Smarr. "Thursday we
play UNC, which is a very tough
match," Smarr said. "They beat
Georgia 5-4 in Athens recently.
They're a real good team It's a
real important match because
they're in our region and we have
to win all those to have a chance
tor the NCAA's."

they're also a strong regional
