defeating Ithica 1-0 and Northern
Illinois 6-4, in a double header of
softball action Friday night.
In the first game, freshman
Tammy Love pitched the first
game of her collegiate career. She
allowed five hits, three walks and

USC signs

1(AP) Lynn Stiffler of Waycross
High School, ranked number 16 in
the nation among junior women
golfers, has signed a grant-in-aid
with the University of South
Carolina, Waycross school officials
said Tuesday.
I Stiffler won the Georgia State
Women's Junior Golf Championship
in 1977 and will be be the
first woman golfer ever to come to
USC on a scholarship.
The women's golf program is
new and will get off the ground
next year. Bobby Foster, who
coaches men's golf, will also coach
the women. i

the sixth, shortstop Debbie Rohr
staried a rally with a single and
then stole second base. Centerfielder
Linnnea Saunders hit
the ball just over first base down
the right field line. Kohr came
around to score the only run of the
game on the play.
Ithica had a chance to come back
when they loaded the bases in the
top of the seventh inning, but Love
continued to show her defensive
leadership by scooping ud a hot
