The USC men's tennis team ^
. continued to dominate opponents
at home, but found road play a
little harder as they won two of
tnree matches over the weekend. u
USC started the weekend off on a n
winning note, defeating a tough a
Wake Forest team 5-4 at the Sam n
Daniel Tennis Center. "It's a win, g
but I'm not very happy about it," b
coach Ron Smarr said. "We can
play a lot better than this and we'll
have to if we expect to compete tl
with some of the teams we have to s
face later in the season.
u
Although Smarr was not pleased |j
with the overall play of the ^
Gamecocks, he did single out one
player for praise. "Arthur
Anastopoulo played an outstanding (j
tennis match today," Smarr said.
"The fellow he played today was
ranked number-one in this region
last year and Arthur beat him (i- 1
2,6-4. It's a great performance." c
Peter MacDonald, Ulf Pet- v
tersson and Brian MacDonald all a
turned in strong showings for the (
Gamecocks. "Peter and Ulf ?
continue to play well and Brian is c
starting to get well. I must admit >
that I'm excited about the rest of e
the season," Smarr said.

Omega Psi Phi was dealt three costly technical fouls
