Joseph Hell USC Writi Joseph Heller, author of Catch-22 and the current bestseller Good As Gold will be featured in the second annual USC Writers Series tonight at 8 p.m. in the Belk auditorium of the Business Administration building. Joseph Heller was born in 1923 in Brooklyn, New York. Formerly a professor of English at City College and a Fulbright scholar at Oxford University, he now lives in Manhatten. After sixty dangerous missions as a bombardier in World War II, he began writing Catch-22 and when the funny shocking novel about war and death was completed eight years later. Heller became an overnight sensation. Heller first exposed his crazy brand of truth to the world with Catch-22 and the world loved it. There are a phenomenal 8,000,000 copies in print and it has been translated into over a dozen languages, but Catch 22 is much more than a bestseller.
