final day of the longest rate hike
hearings in South Carolina history.

Guild said SCE&G rate payers
have a right to know what
legislators are paid in retainer
fees. "The commission is saying
'We don't care, we don't want to
see our bosses embarrassed.'''
Guild said a retainer fee would
be called a bribe if it were paid to
anyone other than a lawyer. At
least one of the subneonaed
legislators is paid $12,(XX) each
year for representing SCE&G
without actually doing any legal
work, he said.
The retainer fee he is paid by
SCE&G has nothing to do with his
legislative work, Gressette said.
. The PSC's decision to void the
subpeonas was absolutely correct,
he said.
The PSC quashed the subpeonas
because the information interveners
were seeking was
repetitiuos and an invasion into
