Lancaster, a native of Columbia,
succeeds Paul Fidler who will
serve full-time as assistant vice
president for career planning and
placement. Fidler founded the
center four years ago, serving in a
dual capacity as center director

about their major field of study.
The center works with the Career
Planning and Placement Center at
USC to determine the best occupational
field for students and
recommends courses that are
transferable to more than one
field.
Lancaster graduated summa
cum laude from Fur man
University in 1963 with a
bachelor's degree in history and
received a Ph.D. in history from
Princeton University in 1974.
