displeased. "I hit my feet on the
floor on one of my moves and my
dismount was bad," Kusnov said. '
"Kathy was way off today,"
White said. "She normally does
better. The floor exercises killed I
her today, but she did real good on
the bars."
(JSC also won the vaulting I
competition with Janet Frazier
and Lisa Spoerl each turning an 8.2
effort. "I didn't do as well as I
could have but I'm still happy. The
vault has always been my best and
the bars are my worst," Frazier
said.
MIDWAY THROUGH the meet,
Carolina held a slight lead at 61.51- i
57.1. Radford could not overcome I
the deficit and Carolina went on to I
claim the final two events. !
On the beam fluff's 7.95 routine
earned her first place in the event
and drew the largest crowd
response of the afternoon. "I'm
surprised! I usually don't do this
well. I'm shocked!" she said. "I
hope I can keep it up."

and Julie Fischer who both scored
7.4.
TIIK VICTORY was marred
early in the afternoon when Kristy
Martino was injured on the bars.
"My hand was raw and the bar just
ripped it open," Martino said.
"Our girls are doing a good job
thus far in the season," White said.
"We've got to improve on staying
on the beam."
"One of the reasons why we
couicin t stay on the beam is
becuase our equipment isn't up to
par. Also, we tried some new
things today," he added.
