Nighthawks t The Nighthawks are coming back! For those of you who caught this jamming blues band from Washington D C. last year in the Golden Spur, you know what this ITT Pllllv THp Inct f i o t h Nighthawks brought their Chicago styled blues our way the Spur recorded an attendance of over 500 raving, rock-out listeners. Tonight at 8 Contemporary Sounds Committee will sponsor the Nighthawks in the Russell House Ballroom. This concert promises to be one of the most energetic blues performances this campus will see. The Nighthawks, who are even more improved since last year's superb Spur show, provide a lot of hard rock and roll while retaining the subtleties of traditional blues. The "Hawks" combine classic blues pieces as wen as original numoers witn tne kind of exhilarated showmanship that comes from five years of onstage experience. Jim Thackery, the band's lead guitarist and vocalist, provides much of the band's spark with precise instrumental and out standing snowmansnip. The band is rounded off by bassist Jan Zukowski and drummer Pete Kagusa who consistently give excellent performances, keeping the driving beat of the Nighthawks' blues. The Nighthawks have more in common with Thorogood and the Destroyers than as successful recording artists. While the Nieht hawks worp iammim* at "Desperado's" on Georgetown's M street, George Thorogood had the house rocking across the street at the "Cellar Door." At a preplanned time, Thackery and Thorogood hit the street playing "Madison Blues" to the accompaniment of the horns of stopped motorists.
