team up to study the relationship
between skin diseases and work
environments under an $87,000
grant from the National Institute
for Occupational Safety and
Health.
Almost half of all occupational
illnesses leading to lost working
time in the private sector are skin
disorders, but research on the |

placing people predisposed to skin
problems in an environment where
chemicals or other agents
stimulate the problem, researchers
said.
Atopic people, those with a
history of hayfever, sinus
problems, asthma or other
disorders, will be compared to nonatopics
to see which group is more
likely to develop skin disorders
when working in an area where
dust, chemicals, cements, rapid
temperature changes and other

student survey will be taken to get
their opinion this week, he added.
James B. Campbell, vice
president of Student Affairs, said
instead of losing parking spaces,
he envisions a plan with more
parking. The university will
maintain the parking spaces, and
by closing Greene Street, it would
unify the campus more, he said.
Besides safety and parking
problems on Greene Street, there
are problems of appearance.
"Greene Street is rather seedy
looking," Brunton said. The
renovations will beautify the street
by planting trees and flowers and
give USC more of a campus atmosphere,
Brunton said.
