The USC Rugby team concluded
another outstanding fall season
with a 27-3 trouncing of Clemson
this past weekend. Bubba Bates
scored iwice to lead the
Gamecocks to their convincing win
which left them with an 8-3-1 mark
for the season.
"We had an outstanding season.
There is not a team in the South
that can beat us ricrht now Wp
proved it many times this
semester and over the past few
years," Coach Jean-Pierre
Chambias said.
In Chambias' words, the team
whipped Clemson because "we
played better rugby. We did some
things that other teams don't do.
We play a different style of rugby.

Chambias' "different style of
rugby" also stresses a total-team
concept with every player involved

Parsons said that while her other
freshmen were suffering from first
home game jitters, she was very
pleased with Rivers' game.
"Sharon Rivers scored some key
baskets for us in the first half and
she was like ice for us. We really
needed that out of her," she said.

didn't let up," Chambias said.
The Tigers did not play that
poorly according to Chambias.
"They were very physical.
Clemson was up for it. I guarantee
you one thing: Clemson did not
come here to get beat," he said.
"Clemson always has a good team.
They keep coming at you. They
never quit," he added.
Despite the team's superior
showing, Chambias still expressed
dissatisfaction. "I know we can do
better. We should have had a
better record than we had. We lost
to teams we were ten times better
than," he said.
