An appeal has been sent
Student Government Vit
President Michael Warshau<
about the Student Senate rejectir
$5,132 in funding for the Russc
House University Union.
Ronnie Jowers, president of tl
RHUU Executive Council, said tl
bill, proposed to the senate Nov. 1

four committees in the RHUU. Th
Executive Council, Trips an
Expeditions, the Video Tap
Committee, and Ideas and Issue
Committee all fall under this bill.
Neither Jowers nor any of th
members of the executive counc
were present at the Senate meetir
Wednesday. Jowers feels this ma
be what led to the "misui
derstanding between the KHU
and the Senate."
BY WHITING A LETTER c
appeal to Warshauer, Jower
hopes to be able to resubmit the bi

le "The union does not benefit the
4' entire student body," Sen. Curtis
Loftis said. "The activities are
programmed for only a certain
few."
Jowers disagrees with this. "It
would be impossible to reach the
entire student body, but we are
reaching more people now than
we ever did before," he said.
"THE UNION is trying to bring
programming that is not readily
available in the Columbia area,"
Jowers said. He also pointed out
every trip the union has sponsored
ie this year has been a sell out.
1(* Warshauer felt the bill was
,e rejected because some individual
;s senators may have been confused
as to exactly where the money is
going.
" In order for a Senate vote be
>8 appealed, a written appeal must be
submitted to Warshauer.
"" Warshauer will then read the
U letter at the next Senate meeting
and turn the letter over to Bob
>f Stein, Finance Committee
s chairman, Warshauer said.
11
s THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
e will review the bill, and the appellant
is then invited to the next
Senate meeting where he will
present his views to the Senate.
The Student Allocation Committee
and the Finance Committee give
h their rerommondntions to thp
L Senate on whether or not the bill
ie should be passed.
