"It seems unusual, even incredible, that anyone would omit engineering as a major facet for the development and future of USC," he said. The College of Engineering is ranked among the better schools of engineering in the nation and collaborated with the very best schools, according to Holaerman. THE MASTER PLAN refers to "unnecessary duplication" between the engineering schools of USC and Clemson University. "This is not a matter of com petition with Clemson University, but a matter of competition with the needs of this state and competition with other states," the report stated. The computer science program at USC attempts to provide public service to South Carolina by "nroducine neonle in a varietv of fields who can use and understand the computer to the best advantage of society," he said.
