A warrant has been issued for
a former Thomson Student
Health Center employee for
allegedly embezzling $3,317
from the health center pharmacy.

Last month Terry Lackev
was dismissed from her
position as storekeeper at the
center and charged with embezzlement
resulting from an
investigation into the loss of a
deposit reported missing in
June.
As storekeeper, Lackey was
responsible for maintaining
supply stocks and making daily
deposits from the pharmacy,
I according to Warren
Carothers, business manager

ior uie cenier.
"MR. CAROTHERS
discovered a discrepancy in the
cash turn-ins and requested an
audit by the USC Internal Audit
Division," Officer C.E. Craig of
the USC Investigative Division
said. The audit division
j requested the investigative
division to pursue further investigation
with assistance
from the tresaurer's office and
a bank doing business with
USC, according to Craig. Craig
would not disclose the name of
the bank which assisted in the
investigation.
! Craig said Lackey, who
"handled the money explicitly"
in making the daily deposits,
was on annual leave when the
discrepancy was discovered.
"OUR INVESTIGATION
confirmed that Lackey embezzled
the deposit," Craig
said. A written statement was
submitted by Lackey admitting
to her implication in the em
bezzlement charge. A copy of
the statement was not available
because it will be used as
evidence in Lackey's trial
before the Grand Jury.
