Vonnegut's new novel is Jailbird, in which Kilgore Trout returns, the hero of Vonnegut's earlier novel Breakfast of Champions. Vonnegut's last novel was Slapstick, which he referred to during his visit to Columbia as "a piece of shit." Vonnegut's lecture to the USC audience included a reading from Jailbird. rrt lir.lf. * ? From the looks of an excerpt published in the August Esquire, Wolfe's book may be his best yet. f | Book Review The subject is similar to that of his first successful piece, which was about a California car show. Wolfe was late for his deadline, so he turned in his notes for the story, thereby creating tne distinctive woiie style. He developed that piece into his first book, The Kandy-Kolored, Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby. The Right Stuff will be released Sept. 24. Sylvia Porter's Money Book was a bestseller a few vears aeo. detailing the ins and outs of personal finance. In an attempt to update the book to current economic trends, Porter has written Sylvia Porter's New Money Book for the 80s. Norman Mailer, who wrote the very popular The Naked and the Dead, has finished his new novel Executioner's Song. The book will be released Oct. if by publishers Little, Brown & Co. Triple, deals with an Israeli intelligence agent trying to steal uranium oxide so that Israel can counter the nuclear developments of her enemies. It is easy to predict that Triple will follow Eye of the Needle to the bestseller charts.
