By Wayne Doleski

Regardless of whether you'n
ready for it, the new wave will b<
invading the Golden Spur thii
week. Tonight, Susan will b<
rocking the Spur, and Wednesday
and Thursday nights The Swim
ming Pool Qs will be visiting oui
campus bar. Neither of thes<
groups plays punk rock, but botl
are frequently associated with the
so-called new wave.
Susan is a band that has its root!
in tjosion, dui now maKes its norm
in New York. The name migh
seem strange when one consider'
that Susan has no female member
The name Susan comes from th<
band's feeling that rock and rol
has depth, like the depth of j
woman ? fragile and hard at the
same time. Until now Susan has
basically worked the New Englaru
and New York club circuit, seeking
recognition and a recording
contract.
The recognition came wher
Susan was featured on the anthology
"Live at the Rat" album,
and the recording contract came
when Susan signed a long-term
agreement with the Champion
Entertainment Organization, a
branch of RCA Records. They have
finished recording their debul
album, and it is due out shortly,
reportedly on blue vinyl.
Little is known about the
Swimming Pool Qs except thai
they hail from Athens, Georgia

already seen the Pool Qs, as thej
were the opening act for the boys
from Akron.
