A debate on the proposed new Student Government constitution will
e held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in room 153, Gambreil Hall. Four speakers
lave been tentatively scheduled for the event, which is sponsored by the
JSC Department of Government and International Studies.

Black law conference set
James Ferguson, defense counsel for the Wilmington 10, will be the
eynote speaker at the Southern Regional Conference of the Black
Lmerican Law Students Association, BALSA, to be held March 1, 2 and

The Wilmington 10 are nine black men and a white woman convicted
f fire bombing a grocery store during racial unrest in Wilmington, N.C.

The BALSA conference, the first to be held in the state, will include
workshops conducted by numerous prominent attorneys, legal scholars
nd law students from throughout the southeastern United States.
Other topics covered at the BALSA conference will include the impact
f the Bakke decision, the backlash of private industry toward af
