and Blues Quartet. A well- followin
seasoned band with six albums and The (
ten years of experience behind Adams,
them, they have been praised derson,
across the United States as being ten ye
one of the most enjoyable, ec- manage
centric, and unpretentious bands a?d sp
in America.
The most recent NRBQ album,
NRBQ At Yankee Stadium is their
first effort for Mercury Records
and has h(^n nnivpr?i?11v hailo/1 oc ? F
their most polished and infectuous BgS
to date.
Like any band that has been I ^ i ^ |
around for ten years, NRBQ ha a I;; :
long and varied history. When their I ' debut
album, NRBQ was released j
in 1969, Columbia Records was
hailing them as the "Next Big Wrj
Thing." They were given a sub- [ 1
stantial advance, called the next Iblm-i
supergroup, and proceeded to flop. : i
That first album was ignored by V.;:' j
both critics and the public (it is , I
now a collector's item) and NRBQ | ]
dropped out of sight. Kg .1
A label change greeted NRBQ in j !
1972 when they signed with Kama i j
Sutra Records and subseauentlv H- .
released two albums on that labei, ji J
Scraps and Workshop. They en- rli_'" 1
joyed a tiny bit of popularity when 11 \
"Get That Gasoline," from I'-'-'T?j
Workshop became a mild hit. Their i - ]
fifth album, All Hopped Up, was f !
released in 1977 on yet another >
label, Red Rooster. ^ '
