SLED began its investigation Jan. 3 at the
request of state Auditor Edgar A. Vaughn.
I According to Vaughn, a discrepancy was
discovered in university audits of cash
receipts over the past five years.
"WE WERE REQUESTED by the
university to investigate the disappearance
of some funds, and after a preliminary look
at it, we felt we should call in SLED,"

Daetwyler said the figures for the missing <

Sources report the missing funds total
about $19,000 during the past five years,
including $4,000 in 1978.
