Homecoming 197ft culminate!
Saturday in the crowning of
Caroline Wilson as
Homecoming Queen during
half-time ceremonies at the
USC-Ohio football game in
Williams-Brice Stadium.
"I was scared I might have
heard the wrong name."
Wilson said, referring w ine
announcement of her name as
Homecoming Queen through
the stadium public address
? -system. "I was scared to w$lk
out there."

Queen was just beginning to
sink in. She said she awakened
Sunday and looked in the paper
and "couldn't believe I was
Homecoming Queen. I have
been looking at my flowers and
crown this morning and I just
can't believe it," she said.
Wilson, a junior Business
Administration major from
Columbia, sponsored by the
Intrafraternity and
Panhellenic councils, said she
had the support of most of the
Greeks, but "had a lot of
friends that helped me who
woe non-Greek."
Wilson said the Homecoming
Queen is not obligated to do anything
after her coronation.
She said she was told there
would be many requests for
her to do things but whether
she accepts or not "is entirely
up to me."
She said she has no specific
plans for the immediate future,
but "if people ask me to do
sanething, I'd like to do it."
GAIL SIMONS, a sophomore
biology major from Irmo, was
first runner-up. Simons was
sponsored by the Association of
Afro-American Students.
Second runner-up was Mitzi
ivwuiii, u sopnomore marine
biology major from Kingsport,
Tenn. Newton was sponsored
by the USC Band.
