according to Dickert, who added
that nearly $200 damage to personal
contents and water damage
to an adjoining room were incurred
in addition to major structural
damages.
The two tenants of the room,
Sharon Inabinet and Linda
Thomoson. were awav nt the Hm?
Thompson said she was coming
back from the grocery store when
she first learned of the fire.
"On the way back from the store,
some friends stopped the car and
told me there was a fire in my
room," Thompson said. "At first I
thought it was a joke, but I finally
realized it was true."
"They said it was the radio, but it
was the tv that was struck,"
Thompson said. "The radio's all
right, but most of our clothes are
smoke-damaged, especially my
nursing outfits."
Thompson and Inabinet have
been assigned a room on the
seventh floor of South Building.

university is exempt from reimbursement
obligations for personal
injuries and losses that they are
not responsible for, said Jo Foster,
vice president of women's
residences.
"We (Residence Life) are not
liable in this instance/' Foster
said. "We have no control over
lightning."
"We do take a moderate interest
(for personal loss) if we feel even
slightly responsible," Foster
added, citing aid given when water
damage occurred at South Towers
earlier this year.
Harold B run ton, university vice
president for operations, said he
did not know the extent of personal
damages caused by the fire ?
"that is the responsibility of the
individual."
