She is "The Belle of

"The Belle of Amherst" will be
presented by Ruth Schultz as

Dickinson, April 21, 22, and 23 in
USC's Longstreet Theatre.
A play by William Luce, this
comical, tender, pensive
biographical account, is a thesis

requirement for the Master of
Arts Degree in Theatre.
"I think that it is a very warm
and lively play... I hope people
will go away from the play
taking note of the fullness of life
instead of taking life for
granted," said Schultz, sitting
on the steps of the staircase
inside Longstreet Theatre, clad
in garb of Emily Dickinson
taste.
"I picked this play because
her life (Emily Dickinson) lifts
life; like 'a dead shell being a
jewel.' She valued the richness
and warmth of life. She was
strong, but yet she was a
recluse. She was witty and
devoted to her family. She knew
her vulnerabilities and feared
disappointment."

entire production takes "225
